Policy for AI Use in the CDRE Prep Course
To support high-quality learning resources for dietitians preparing for the Canadian Dietetic Registration Examination (CDRE), this course uses artificial intelligence (AI) tools in a limited and controlled way during content development.
1. Purpose of AI use
AI tools (e.g., large language models and search-assisted tools) may be used by the course developer to (but not limited to):
Generate draft practice questions, rationales, or explanations.
Suggest alternative wording for clarity and readability.
Help identify or retrieve relevant references (e.g., Canadian guidelines, surveillance data, or textbook concepts).
2. Human review and responsibility
All AI-assisted content is:
Read, edited, and approved for inclusion in the CDRE Prep Course by the course owner, Sue Behari-McGinty.
Generated by including authoritative sources, including recognized textbooks included in the official CDRE Guide as well as other reputable resources. While, not all question and answer generated are double checked to ensure content validity, some with obvious errors are omitted from inclusion in the course.
Aligned with the CDRE blueprint and ICDEP competencies, including the Canadian context for dietetic practice.
Aligned with authoritative sources included in the CDRE Blueprint and other sources identified by the course owner.
Additional statements:
The instructor retains some limited responsibility for the accuracy, appropriateness, and fairness of all course materials.
The owner is committed to making any legitimate changes brought to their attention by users of the course.
The content of the any parts of the course generated by AI is formative.
3. Limitations of AI
AI tools:
Can make errors, omit important nuances, or reflect non-Canadian practices if not carefully supervised.
Do not replace professional judgment, regulatory standards, or official CDRE resources.
For this reason:
AI outputs are treated only as drafts and aids, never as final exam items or authoritative guidance.
Additional statement:
Prior to 2026 no AI Tools were used for any content of the CDRE Prep Course.
4. Learner guidance
Learners are encouraged to:
Use AI tools, if they choose, as supplements for practice (e.g., generating extra questions, explanations) and not as their sole study source. To this end, some guidance is provided.
Always cross-check AI-generated information with:
Official CDRE resources
Regulatory college and Dietitians of Canada materials
Core dietetic textbooks and evidence-based practice resources
The CDRE Prep Course provides many such resources.
5. Transparency
Where AI contributed substantially to the drafting of specific practice questions or explanations, this will be noted internally.
Regardless of AI involvement, all questions in this course are human-checked and contextualized for Canadian entry-to-practice dietetic competence.
